At a crossroads...

To sell or not to sell, that's the question buzzing about in my brain like those annoying moths that throw themselves at the window on hot summer nights. I'm loving all the creativity that I've allowed myself to do these holidays that it's causing me to have small delusions of success! Mind you, I didn't know if the hand spun yarns would sell... and they did, so why wouldn't my dyed rovings? I've been playing around with the dyes and I think I'm starting to get somewhere. The colours are bright and saturated..... maybe a little too bright?

I can do this, right?

I mean, if I can create colours that I'm happy with and it makes some yummy yarn, why couldn't I make it for others? I guess I'm frightened of it becoming just too big for my time I have at home. No. I think I can do it.

Dammit, I'm gonna give it a go!

Gotta do something with that 10kg bump that's on it's way to me!!!

Whadya get for an 18 year old?

It's that time of year where we seem to be at endless family and friends barbeques. Everyone's on their best behaviour for the first half hour until Uncle Phil's 2nd beer kicks in! Meanwhile Aunty Judy's driving everyone batty fussing around the kids and anyone brave enough to be in the kitchen at the same time she is. Love 'em! Yep, I love those bloody bbq's, and all the annoying rellies that come with them. Tomorrow we're off to another one (that makes two this weekend!) that's also a belated 18th birthday party for a daughter of the hubster's workmate. What the hell do I get for her? It dawned on me at 8pm tonight that I have nothing and I know nothing about this girl.... so I reach for the knitting patterns and have managed to feverishly knit her up a Caliometry head warmer (good one Jo, it's summer, I'm sure she'll need a warm head!). It took me 2 hours and I'm pretty happy with the finished product. I used Kattwing's hand dyed alpaca yarn in eggplant and it looks great. I'll have to madly weave in the ends and sew on a button tomorrow morning.

Just had a horrible thought.... what if she has no idea what the hell it is and hates it?

Don't think about it Jo, go to bed and dream of finishing off all those crafty projects in one hit!!

Yeah, I can do that!

Well, here's my first ever blogger post, and what have I been up to? Spinning my butt off! I was asked to copy an earlier yarn I'd spun "yeah, sure" says cocky li'i ol' me. After all, I'd managed to do it with my "Sunset over teatree", this should be just as easy right? Yeah, right Jo, good one! I even went to the trouble of writing down all my fibre formulas for each yarn that I've spun. Fat lot of good that did me. I think I need to come up with a way of recording how much of each fibre I used. The new skein looks lovely, but it's not exactly like the first version.... too much brown, not enough white.

Oh well, live and learn, eh?
