Life gets in the way...

Isn't it dreadful when life gets in the way of getting done what you reallly want to do? I had a whole day - a whole day! - to myself so that I could get a heap of stuff done (spinning and dyeing). Be buggered if that was going to happen! Every time I plan a day to just do what I want it gets messed up with life! At least I can't say that life is boring, eh?

However... I did get something done, plus an experiment or two.... and the wool that's been soaking for a week has mould starting to grow on it...!

Watermelon On Tuesdays (SOLD)

Opalescence (not for sale - just playing around!)

Shiny, shiny! (more to come folks!)

The plan? To do some dyeing and carding - oh, and spinning - tomorrow! Doubt I'll do it all, but I'll give it a red-hot go! I've just purchased a kilo of merino/silk which is calling out to me to do something yummy with it.... Raspberry Tiger perhaps?

The search for the Raspberry Tiger!

It entered my head that I should try to create a dyed fibre to match a name... little bit of fun to inspire the creative juices! The name "Raspberry Tiger" sounded great so off I went to consult the dye pots... what came out was Mattel's love child! And so was born "Come on Barbie, let's go party!".
SOLD!

Easter holidays are here and I fully intend to have a mad dyeing day.... the elusive Raspberry Tiger will hopefully make an appearance too....

Happy Easter!

Newbies...

Here's some new fibre and some new spins to ogle....

" Blackberry and Apple Crumble" (190 gms available $45)
A silky 5 ply/sport weight yarn using merino, silk, angora and blue-faced leicester. Very soft for next-to-skin wear with a drape like silk or bamboo.

"Sea Garden" (all sold thanks)
This is an 8ply /sport weight yarn that is very soft and squooshy and perfect for next-to-skin wear.

Look out for more of these blends coming up as well as some more of the gorgeously soft angora/merino blends just in time for winter wooly knitting.

And now for the obligatory silly photo (taken by my sister who thought that she could easily do an "artsy" photo):
